Consultation & Collaboration for Teachers in Independent Schools. Faculty (educators & administrators) are expected to be responsive to a wide range of student social and emotional needs, yet teacher education does not focus on mental health directly to prepare for day-to-day experiences of managing teens' emotional wellness.
This consultation group offers peer support and guidance for educators to help you process your experiences working with students from a mental health provider who works in independent schools. This confidential group will allow you to work through issues that arise when supporting student-related issues and within the larger educational system you work within.
Join us in an online consultation group of teachers (non-mental health providers) to learn assessment tools and evidenced-based ways to support healthy social and emotional development of adolescents in grades 5 - 12.
In this consultation group, you will,
Confidential support: A safe, private setting to share student-related social and emotional circumstances
Self Awareness: Gain self-awareness & insights into one’s response style and boundaries
Communication Skills: Gain skills and strategies of effective communication and listening skills
Identity and Wellness: Acquire knowledge of how identity intersects with emotional wellness
Assessment Tools: Learn how to utilize emotional assessment tools to support a student from a non-mental health perspective.
Our next 6-week consultation group begins January 27, 2025, from 6:00-7:15 pm on Mondays via Zoom (1/27, 2/3, 2/12, 2/24, 3/3 & 3/10). The consultation group consists of a maximum of eight teachers from Independent School Educators (faculty & administrator) who work with students in grades 5-12. The total for the entire session is $450. If you want to learn more about the consultation groups, please use the Sign-Up button below or call Michele Grethel, PhD, at 917-797-5608.
